Washgate: The Peak Park has agreed a Traffic Regulation Order for Washgate but with an exemption for two motor vehicle trials which have used the route for some years. Concerns remain about the impact of the trials on the river Dove at Washgate as the trials involve participants driving up and down a stretch of the river. The Peak Park has retained the right to set conditions for use of the route by the two trials. We hope that the conditions will preclude use of the river as a stage in the trials. Meanwhile the Staffordshire side of Washgate remains severely damaged.
Monksdale Lane, Tideswell: is now a bridleway. The bridleway Order has been confirmed and use by recreational motor vehicles is now illegal. Many thanks to PDGLA and Peak Horsepower colleagues who did the work on the public inquiry and to the local residents, farmers, horse riders and walkers whose evidence played an important part in securing the bridleway decision.
